Thick vs thin floss
Margaret FeldborgDoes the thickness of your dental floss matter? Yes! A floss that is too thin will not clean your teeth and gums effectively.
Between your teeth there is an area of free space where food, plaque, and bacteria can accumulate. We use floss to keep this area clean and remove all that debris. The thinner the floss, the less effective it is at swiping away all the gunk that is trapped in this space. Thin floss requires you to do much more manual manipulation when flossing. If you use a thicker floss, you will remove more debris with each swipe of your hand. Thicker floss is more effective!
Of course, you need to be able to get the floss in between your teeth and get through that contact point. If you have very tight contacts between your teeth, a thick, rigid floss might be difficult to use. This is why TrollTunga Tråd is a soft, expanding, thick floss. It is soft and malleable - it gets thin when stretched under tension so that it will get through tight contacts. But it is thick and fluffy so that it effectively cleans out those interdental spaces. It’s feel and texture makes it super comfortable to use!
